Romney should have been governor of Michigan. If he had done a good job there, he would be a lock for the presidency now, and he wouldn't have had to sacrifice conservative principles.
Rick Santorum is exactly the kind of candidate that the Tea Party, of the 2010-midterm variety, would have fought against. Hard. In fact, Santorum said, during the early days of the Tea Party, that he would "vocally and publicly oppose" the Tea Party movement.
I suspect he realized that a loss in MI would spell disaster for his Super Tuesday prospects. That being said, this lame ad will do nothing to prevent that.
I actually think the ad will connect with a fair amount of voters in Michigan. The ad shows Michigan in happier times and gives the viewer a sense of nostalgia. It reminds people that he lived there and that he cares about the state. I would run this ad a thousand times before February 28th.
Romney's ad is wonderful. The film footage is great, the music, Romney talking about the state's economy, his history in the state...the ad hits every note perfectly....very impressive.
Santorum's ad is your typical run of the mill upbeat ad, though the music in this one is particularly bad.
And it's totally dishonest in the respect that Santorum is NOT a Tea Party kind a guy. Anyone who knows anything knows he's on tape dissing the Tea Party and it's libertarianism.
This is so typical of a career politician to use a group to when an election.

Reply to this commentLinkReport Abuse@katiebird, he didn't have to; that was his choice.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseRick Santorum is many things, but "a Tea Party kinda guy" isn't one of them.

Reply to this commentLinkReport Abusethat would be "win" an election not "when" an election
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseCan't stand the vile and mendacious Romney, and hate his blinkered supporters, but that ad is superb.
