Regarding Linsanity

I consider regular season NBA games unwatchable. My modest proposal during the labor dispute was to cancel the entire regular season and let everyone in the playoffs and have a big elimination tournament. But I have been caught up in Linsanity, which gets better and better. Denver has Tim Tebow, New York has Jeremy Lin.

A modest proposal.
Simply reduce the game period to a total of 2 minutes or so. After all, that is when NBA games are decided.

I echo your sentiments about the NBA, and sadly college basketball isn't far behind.

But, this Lin kid and his story, are really quite interesting. Unlike the Tebow phenomenon, there's a racial element here that is pretty compelling as well. Some of the things that have been said about him by other athletes - many of whom are black - and particularly some things that have been written about him by black "sports journalists" (Jason Whitlock, for example) are disturbing in the extreme. Just for a moment at least, the mask of political correctness has slipped from the face of some of the usual suspects.

It's also curious that a kid who played on a state championship team in a state as big as California and as 6'3" pure point guard, didn't get a single scholarship offer. How is that possible?

All that said, he needs to start taking better care of the ball. While his scoring accomplishments these last 6-games have been historic, his turnovers have been as well. You cannot turn the ball over 10-times a game and survive as a point guard in the NBA. But, he's new to that offense and I think the safe bet is on quick improvement given his intellect and natural ability.

The Knicks thought they lacked a playmaker who could put their offense in synch, but, suddenly, here he is. Whoever kept Lin on the roster up to this point deserves a raise.

I can't believe it! I bought a t-shirt with his name and number on it. I HATE pro basketball. But I do like Lin.

Hockey > Basketball

I'll never understand the American people.

You New Yorkers are so provincial. The OKC Thunder games have been watchable during the regular season for three years now -- and they actually make the playoffs. LA Clipper regular season games have been must see for two years now. Dirk Nowitzki has always been fun to watch. There is a bigger world and sports world outside the five boroughs. Also, NY Yankees = Greece. But I'm sure that the NYYankee/Bosox/Mets/Phillies/Dodger Network (ESPN) will continue to prop them up, and continue to deceive society into believing that the Yanks are relevant.
