“I am very surprised and saddened to learn that Senator Snowe is not going to seek reelection,” says Bob Nutting, speaker of the Maine house of representatives:
She has spent over 30 years serving the people of the state of Maine and has been an excellent U.S. senator. We will miss her service. We will miss her civility and her willingness to work across the aisle. I was helping with her campaign and have spoken to her personally several times in recent months, and I’m very sad that she’s chosen not to run for reelection. She has been an institution in the state of Maine, and she’s been a great help to the Republican party, recruiting candidates up and down the ticket, and she will be missed.

Nutting is nutters. Civility earns you contempt from Democrats and, apparently, 15 trillion in debt.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWon't miss her much, but there goes one GOP senate seat.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI've been wringing my hands all day since I heard this news. I'll have an even harder time now seeking validation among the left for my right wing ways. At least when she was around I could always point to her in defense and say "see we can be hip too, we've got someone on our side just like you." More self flagellation in in order.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseIt would really be great if her sister senatrix were to go too. They define the term "RINO."
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI made a list of the RINOS who voted NOT GUILTY in the impeachment back in 1998. I'd rather have a Democrat than a back-stabber. Specter is gone, Jeffords. Now Snowe. And you'd be hard put to say the ideological make-up of the Senate has changed any.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseIf civility is important to voters, why are Democrats ever elected?
