I’d like to see us conduct this election on this planet, but the First Lady suggests that might not be the strategy.
Her standard stump speech apparently includes the “amazing story” of the first Obama term. Mrs. Obama explains that “this president has brought us out of the dark and into the light.”
If by light you mean an unworkable health-care regulatory regime that has brought unprecedented government-imposed uncertainty to American businesses and with it a newfound erosion of our God-given liberties the Constitution once protected . . .
This president has given a series of theologically questionable speeches over the years — Notre Dame and a most recent prayer breakfast come to mind — but this kind of arrogance has become tiresome to a people that knows better. The government is not our light and our salvation. And with this administration, it even tramples in a whole new way on so many of our rights to seek true salvation as our faith prescribes. And that should all set off alarm bells with every America, of any and of no religious affiliation.
