What Gets You Fired These Days?

Text

The Chronicle of Higher Education just fired a writer because lots of its readers felt that her blog posting that black-studies doctoral dissertations were not very scholarly made her unfit to write for the periodical. But in the world of identity politics, how would that editorial offense compare with the more concrete one of Elizabeth Warren? Warren for over a decade fraudulently identified herself as a Native American law professor until the point she was hired at Harvard as a tenured professor and then apparently ceased the overt identification — a dissimulation about which neither Warren nor Harvard has offered any logical explanation. Writing an opinion can get your fired, but assuming a false identity does not?
