London, the Sixth Biggest City in . . . France
While some 120,000 French citizens are officially registered at the French consulates in London and Edinburgh, the actual number is probably somewhere between 300,000 and 400,000 living in London alone. That’s more than the number of French people living in the French cities of Bordeaux, Nantes, or Strasbourg.
So why are that many French people moving to London? For jobs, says the BBC. By living in London rather than in Paris, younger French job-seekers have a better shot at finding a job and earning higher wages. Also, according to this piece, it’s cheaper to find an apartment in London than in Paris.
