Jackson: Walker an ‘Old South’ Governor

by Robert Costa

Milwaukee, Wis. – In an interview with National Review Online, Reverend Jesse Jackson called Governor Walker an “Old South” politician and compared him to the late Alabama governor, Democrat George Wallace, who was known for his segregationist views. “This is Old South politics,” Jackson said of Walker’s push to curb collective bargaining. “These two men have the same position on attacking voting rights, on right-to-work laws, and on tax cuts for the wealthy. That’s the way things were done in the Old South.”

He added that he does not believe that Walker is a racist — “that would be an irresponsible thing to say.”
