Re: Arrested for Blogging

Text

Ken at Popehat has some updates on the case of Aaron Walker I noted the other day. In short, Walker was arrested in Maryland for blogging. To make it worse, a Maryland judge — Judge C. J. Vaughey — disregarded clearly established Supreme Court precedent and ordered Walker not to blog about Brett Kimberlin for six months. Indeed, Judge Vaughey flatly declared that he did not care about the law (nor did he care to understand much of anything about how social media work). On the positive side, Walker is appealing and has obtained the assistance of my VC co-blogger (and noted First Amendment scholar) Eugene Volokh, so I’m confident the judge’s order will not stand.
