Dewhurst Appointed Top Donor to State Board

Texas lieutenant governor David Dewhurst, currently in a runoff with Ted Cruz for the GOP Senate nomination, appointed a donor who gave him $465,000 in political contributions over the years to a state board that distributes grants related to cancer research, reports the Dallas Morning News. The Dewhurst campaign denies that the donor, Charles Tate, was appointed because of his donations, citing his prior medical-related work.
