It seems that no one who was at Columbia in the 1980s remembers Obama as a student there. Four years ago the Wall Street Journal noted that “the Columbia years are a hole in the sprawling Obama hagiography,” adding that “Fox News contacted some 400 of his classmates and found no one who remembered him” — which probably says more about Columbia’s social life back then than about the veracity of the education section on the president’s résumé.

New lyrics, same tune: Now we hear that no one associated with the New Party in Chicago in the 1990s remembers Obama as a member of it. If your aim is to somehow take down Stanley Kurtz’s reporting on this issue, it’s one thing to suggest that it’s not that big a deal that Obama belonged to the New Party, because it was short-lived and “disorganized,” a “blip.” But to try to make something out of your finding that everyone you spoke to has no recollection is just a misstep.
