Local and state officials, along with local and federal law enforcement, held a press conference moments ago in Aurora. Here are some of the details disclosed:
The suspect is James Egan Holmes, resident of Aurora, DOB: 12/13/87
His only infraction on record with Aurora PD is a 2011 traffic summons
Holmes was arrest at the rear of the theater without incident.
Three weapons were found with Holmes inside his white Hyundai: an AR-15 assault rifle, a Remington 870 12-gauge shotgun, and a .40 caliber Glock pistol.
It is not known whether Holmes owned the weapons legally.
Holmes was fully body-armored, wearing a ballistic helmet, vest, and gloves, along with throat and groin protectors, and a gas mask.
He apparently set off two devices containing irritants.
Holmes apartment in Aurora is “booby-trapped”, apparently with a number of “incendiary and chemical” devices connected by “trip wires.”
The victim count stands at 71 shot, with 12 dead. Many of the wounded are described as in “critical” condition.
There are 100 FBI agents and 25 ATF agents on scene following leads.
Police responded to the Aurora theater within 90 seconds of receiving the first of “hundreds” of emergency calls. Holmes was arrested almost immediately.
