I would love to see the focus group data on how President Obama’s “you didn’t build it” comment is playing, because it must be showing terrible reactions. The Obama campaign has now released a new ad (because apparently, Obama’s comments at the fundraiser last night and Stephanie Cutter’s web video weren’t sufficient) that begins with Obama saying, “Those ads taking my words about small business out of context; they’re flat out wrong. Of course Americans build their own business.”
He’s also refining the roads-and-bridges part of this discussion a bit, saying in the ad, “And what I said was that we need to stand behind them as America always has. By investing in education, training, roads and bridges, research and technology.” Watch:
“It’s clear what President Obama believes because he told us: ‘if you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.’ He said it, and he meant it,” said Romney spokesman Ryan Williams in response to the ad.
