Conservatism for Kids

by Jonah Goldberg

A reader asks: “…My son… is turning 13. He is really into politics and conservative thinking (wonder where he gets that? :) ) . What book, or books, would you recommend for a young man his age that is wanting to learn more about the roots of modern conservative thought and values?”

It’s an interesting question. A huge book for me, when I was a little older, was Paul Johnson’s Modern Times. It’s a wonderful book but it might be a bit too dated or heavy for a 13-year-old. But maybe this would be a good question to throw to my colleagues and to NRO readers in the comments section. I’ll keep noodling.
