Tennis, Anyone?

by Jay Nordlinger

Just a little break from politics. Professor Jeffrey Hart and I were e-mailing today, and he wrote something that should be widely disseminated. Jeff is known as a literary scholar and political writer, of course. His just-published book is The Living Moment: Modernism in a Broken World. But he has also been, for 60 years — 70 years? — a keen student of tennis.

About Roger Federer, he says, “The excellence of his form makes the racket do the job and saves his body.” Yes. And applicable to golfers, pitchers, and others as well. An important observation.
