The Case of the Missing Solar Panels

Text

Did you know Jimmy Carter put solar panels on the White House as a goodwill gesture to the green movement? And did you know Reagan took them down for maintenance, and they never got put back up? And did you know that, though President Obama promised to rectify this wrong by spring 2011, the White House roof is still sans solar panels? The solar saga’s got more than a few environmentalists in a tizzy. As one ABC News reporter put it, “Many are asking, where are they Mr. President?”

The White House’s answer to that question? They’re “in the procurement phase,” according to one spokesperson. Maybe said phase would have been a bit shorter if that one solar panel company hadn’t folded.
