Capitol Hill Not The Greatest For Women, Minorities, The Disabled

by Betsy Woodruff

The ominously named Office of Compliance just released a study indicating that Capitol Hill seems to have become a worse place for women and minorities to work over the last few years. Since 2007, claims of racial and sexual discrimination, as well as retaliation, have steadily increased. Things also aren’t great for the disabled — of the 36 bathrooms in House and Senate office buildings, zero met all the standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act. And there are 154 barriers to people in wheelchairs on the sidewalks around the office buildings, some of which could cause them to flip sideways or backwards. The Hill has the whole story here.
