Romney Behind . . . in A Poll With A Democratic Advantage Equal to 2008’s
There is a poll out today by High Point University (an outlet that I haven’t previously seen polling from this cycle) that shows Mitt Romney three points behind President Obama, 43 percent to 46 percent. But the sample is D+7, with 38 percent Democrats, and 31 percent Republicans.
2008 is the only year in recent years where Democrats had a seven-point advantage. (In the other recent past years, a four-point Democratic advantage had been the highest. In 2010, Republicans and Democrats turned out in equal percentages of the electorate.) Republican enthusiasm is high; Democrat enthusiasm, while not quite in the doldrums of 2010, is very unlikely to equal the Obamamania of 2008.
