A Win for Religious Liberty in Michigan against Obama Administration’s Religious-Liberty-Eroding HHS Mandate

by Kathryn Jean Lopez

A judge in Michigan has issued an injunction in the HHS mandate case of the Weingartz Supply Company, an outdoor supplies company owned by a Catholic. This is the second religious-liberty victory, albeit temporary, for a plaintiff seeking protection from the Obama administration’s abortion-drug, contraception, sterilization mandate. For companies like Weingartz and the Hercules HVAC company in Denver, the HHS mandate went into effect on August 1. The White House was shielded from a summer of bad press with court wins such as these because most plans don’t begin until January; expect more suits after the election.

More about the Weingartz case from Michigan’s attorney general earlier this fall here.
