Today on Uncommon Knowledge, Hollywood friends Rob Long and Harry Shearer consider why Hollywood is politically left of its aimed-at market.

“You had a generation of people running Hollywood at the time who were immigrants mainly, who were very grateful at bottom for the fact that they were not back where their relatives were being incinerated. So, there was an underlying level of gratitude for a haven, an imperfect haven … but a haven, nonetheless. You can’t replicate that generation after generation. In the same way that people come up poor and achieve some wealth complain that their kids take stuff for granted….You have a generation of people running Hollywood now who take stuff for granted.”
