Democratic Voters Open to Entitlement Reform

Text

This is interesting: According to a poll by Third Way and Benenson Strategy Group, “79 percent of Obama voters believe it would be better for the country if the President and Congress made changes to fix Social Security and Medicare than if they made no changes.” Now, it’s not all good news: 82 percent of Obama voters also want tax hikes. Regardless, the fact that so many are open to changes in entitlement reform suggests that, regardless of the final compromise on taxes, there’s significant bipartisan support among voters for responsible reform to both Medicare and Social Security.
