Senator Collins: ‘Troubled’ by Rice’s ‘Political Role’ at Height of Election

Senator Susan Collins said that, “I still have many questions that remain unanswered,” following her meeting with Ambassador Rice today. She added that, “I continue to be troubled by the fact that the U.N. Ambassador decided to play what was essentially a political role at the height of a contentious presidential election campaign by agreeing to go on the Sunday shows to present the administration’s position.” She pointed out that the attacks in Benghazi reminded her of the embassy bombings in 1998, as the State Department ignored requests for further security in both cases.
