My Favorite Albums of 2012

by John J. Miller

Glad you asked.

  • Lord Huron is the new Bon Iver. There’s nothing quite as catchy as “Skinny Love” on Lonesome Dreams, but the songs are consistently better.
  • The genius of the Raveonettes is to combine the influences of a 1950s sock hop with 1980s Goth rock. Observator is dark and lovely.
  • If you like Mumford & Sons (and you should), check out Inheritance, a four-song EP by the Last Bison, and try to track down a full-length album called Quill, which is suddenly hard to find.
