McCain: Path to Citizenship ‘Has to Be a Part of’ Immigration Bill

President Obama is set to kick off his push for immigration reform, which includes a pathway to citizenship, this week in Las Vegas. On ABC’s This Week, Senator John McCain said that an immigration bill will closely resemble the failed Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2007 strongly backed by the Bush administration, which included both a path to citizenship and increased border enforcement.

McCain, who will undoubtedly play a key role in shaping the forthcoming bill, said that a path to citizenship “has to be…a part of it.”
