With controversy still swirling around her lip-syncing the national anthem at President Obama’s inauguration, pop star Beyoncé kicked off her Super Bowl press conference by singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” before taking questions from reporters. When asked about her decision to lip-sync, Beyoncé said she’s “a perfectionist” and “wanted to make [the president] and my country proud.” “Due to the weather, due to the delay, due to no proper soundcheck, I did not feel comfortable taking a risk,” she said. “I’m very proud of my performance.”
