In today’s White House press briefing, Jay Carney received tough questions from Fox News’s Ed Henry about the administration’s use of drones and if civilians were killed. “Why are you dancing around the question of whether or not we killed civilians? Why can’t the government at least admit that civilians have been killed?” Henry asked. “I don’t think I am dancing around it,” Carney responded, and then acknowledged that civilians have been killed.
Carney said the recent news of the administration’s drone use would not imperil John Brennan’s nomination for CIA director: “The president believes that John Brennan is uniquely qualified as a 25-year veteran of intelligence work.” His confirmation hearing is scheduled for tomorrow.
