Feinstein: Civilian Casualties from U.S. Drone Strikes ‘in the Single Digits’ Each Year

In her introduction of John Brennan at his nomination hearings for CIA director, Senator Dianne Feinstein (D., Calif.) claimed that the number of civilian casualties from drones strikes “each year has typically been in the single digits.” While this would be welcome news, according to other sources, drones have killed between 473 to 893 civilians in Pakistan and 72 to 178 in Yemen. A Columbia University investigation estimated that 72 to 155 civilians were killed in Pakistan in 2011 alone.
