Ruy Teixeira reviews Jonathan Last’s new book What to Expect When No One’s Expecting in The New Republic. He’s not impressed by the book’s argument because, get this, the U.N. projects fertility will return to replacement levels over the next 50 years. It has been projecting this, as Last explains, for the last two generations to no effect. But hey, why worry when we can rely on United Nation’s future projections to assure us there is no problem?
