Ted Cruz Is a Little Skeptical About POTUS’s Immigration Goodheartedness

Text

The president seems to have a sunny take on the possibility of comprehensive immigration reform, but not everyone is so optimistic, including freshman senator Ted Cruz.

“President Obama’s conduct on this issue demonstrates he is not interested in bipartisan reform,” he told reporters after the State of the Union address.” Instead, his behavior suggests what he is looking for is a political issue — that his objective is not to get a bill passed, but to have an issue to campaign on in 2014 and 2016. And indeed, I think the single biggest obstacle to major immigration reform that would significantly improve border enforcement and materially improve legal immigration — and in particular, expand high-skilled immigration that would help create jobs — the single biggest barrier to that getting passed is, tragically, President Obama.”
