Rubio Knows His Rap, Explains to TMZ Why Lil’ Wayne Is No Tupac

by Nathaniel Botwinick

Senator Marco Rubio’s love of rap has lately become a source of media fascination. The celebrity gossip website TMZ recently tracked him down in D.C. and got him to weigh in on Lil’ Wayne’s styling himself as the new Tupac Shakur. “Nah, there’s only one Tupac,” said Rubio.

Rubio then called into TMZ’s show to further explicate his views on Tupac (“A complicated person. . . [who] gave us insight into a time in our country”), Lil’ Wayne (“largely an entertainer”), Jay-Z (“industry standard”), and Kanye West (“very talented . . . good flow and his lyrics are unique”).

Rubio was also very assertive in his opinion on the famous question of Tupac vs. Biggie Smalls: “That’s not even close. Tupac.”
