‘A Very Senior Person’ at White House to Woodward: ‘You Will Regret Doing This’

Text

The Washington Post’s Bob Woodward has found himself in the crosshairs of the Obama administration this week because of his reporting on the president’s involvement in the sequester negotiations, so much so that he told CNN tonight that “a very senior person” at the White House warned him, “‘You will regret doing this.’” Woodward told host Wolf Blitzer that the administration was not happy with the reporter’s version of the origin of the sequester; Woodward detailed the process in The Price of Politics, his book about the 2011 budget negotiations, and in a piece in the Washington Post over the weekend.

“It makes me very uncomfortable to have the White House telling reporters, you’re going to regret doing something that you believe in,” Woodward said. He added that he hoped that the president would discourage his communications team from making these types of threats.
