McCain: ‘We’re Going to Go Through a Charade Here’ on the Sequester

by Nathaniel Botwinick

Senator John McCain delivered an impassioned speech on sequestration on the floor of the Senate this morning. He accused his fellow congressmen and the president of “doing the men and women who serve this great nation a disservice” by allowing the sequester to go into effect. Senator McCain derided the votes that will occur today on sequester replacement bills as a “charade.” He also said that he stands “ready to put everything on the table to prevent” the sequester cuts, which possibly hints at a willingness to consider increased revenues along with budget cuts.
