Good Chicago Tribune Editorial on the Voting Rights Act

Since I was complaining last week about a “predictably bad” New York Times editorial on Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act, simple fairness dictates that I recognize a good editorial today — and not one I would have predicted – by another one of them big Yankee papers, namely the Chicago Tribune, which concludes: “Like the rest of the nation, the South is far from immune to racial conflict and prejudice. But it has changed beyond recognition, and it’s about time for the law to change as well.”
