Christie on D.C.: I Don’t Have the First Damn Idea What They’re Doing Down There

Governor Christie had some strong words for the federal government this afternoon at his press conference in New Jersey: “If the federal government can’t cut one cent out of a dollar, and not bring the economy and the country to its knees, then the government is in awful shape to begin with.” He scoffed at the minimal cuts required by the sequester, saying “we’ve done much harder things in New Jersey.”

The governor then called on the federal government to “get real” by focusing on entitlement reform. He admitted that he was puzzled by D.C.’s incompetence and inaction: “I don’t have the first damn idea what they’re doing down there.”
