No More Tanks for Britain’s Famed ‘Desert Rats’ Unit

by Nathaniel Botwinick

Britain’s 7th Armoured Brigade, the Desert Rats, have been stripped of their tanks in the recent round of British defense cuts. The Rats, a whole division during World War II, achieved lasting fame for their role in thwarting Rommel’s Afrika Korps, especially their victory over the “Desert Fox” at El Alamein. The Desert Rats will now be conducting their operations with “wheeled reconnaissance vehicles.” The gutting of the West’s militaries continues apace, to the point that we now have armored units that lack actual armor.
