Feinstein: ‘I Won’t Play Dead’ On Assault-Weapons Ban

Text

Senator Dianne Feinstein (D., Calif.) promised on CNN last night that she isn’t giving up on the assault-weapons ban, after Democratic majority leader Harry Reid announced yesterday that the bill to the Senate floor won’t include such a ban. The senator said she’s “taking [Reid] at his word” that she will be allowed to propose it as an amendment, though. Feinstein warned that she will not “play dead” on the issue, and will continue pushing for the inclusion of a ban on magazines larger than ten bullets. She asserted that “not to give me a vote on [the weapons ban] would be a major betrayal of trust.”
