McCain on North Korea: ‘I Don’t Know What Kind of Game This Young Man is Playing’

Senator John McCain warned this morning about the seriousness of recent events on the Korean border. “North Korea could set Seoul on fire, and that could be a catastrophe of enormous proportions.”
The greatest risk posed by the situation on the Korean border, according to McCain, is of an accidental war. “I don’t know what kind of game this young man is playing,” McCain said of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un. “More than once wars have started by accident.. This is a very serious situation.”
China, according to McCain, is key to containing North Korea, but he expressed frustration with the actions of the Chinese. “Chinese behavior has been very disappointing, whether it be on cybersecurity, whether it be on confrontation in the South China Sea, or their failure to reign in what could be a catastrophic situation.”
