Elizabeth Colbert Busch, the Democratic candidate in South Carolina’s upcoming special election, has released a new ad assuring voters in the Republican-heavy district that she won’t always toe the party line.
“As a single mom raising three young children, I had to be independent and do what was right for them,” she says in the ad. “Now, I’m going to take that lesson to Congress. I won’t take any special-interest pledges or follow any party line.”
Colbert Busch is running against Republican Mark Sanford in next month’s election. Polls currently show the candidates virtually tied.
