Carjack Victim: Tsarnaev Brothers Spared Him Because He Wasn’t American
The Boston Marathon bombing suspects’ carjack victim told NBC’s Pete Williams that the brother spared his life because he was not an American. Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev hijacked the man’s car and held him for about a half hour before releasing him at a gas station in the early stages of the two-day manhunt.
The man, who asked to remain anonymous, also told police that he may have heard the brothers discussing driving the car to New York. Although they were speaking in another language, he said he heard the word “Manhattan” interspersed throughout their conversation. Authorities aren’t sure if the man may have misheard the word.
