O’Brien: Washington Media ‘One Big High-School Cafeteria’


Conan O’Brien, the keynote speaker at last night’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, joined the president in ribbing the news media.

He categorized them, for instance, by high-school social categories — NPR employees, he explained, are “the kids with peanut allergies.”

The print media came in for particularly withering treatment: O’Brien noted that those journalists were present at the dinner for two good reasons, “food and shelter.”

He had a solid off-color joke about PBS, too, and another joke at NPR’s expense:
