Saudi Diplomatic Compound Investigated for Potential Human Trafficking

Immigrations and Customs enforcement agents are investigating a possible human-trafficking case in a Saudi diplomatic compound in a D.C.-area suburb. According to reports, two women of Filipino origin were “rescued” yesterday after one of the women tried to escape through the front gate as it was closing. The Saudi military attaché lives in the McLean, Va. home, according to a State Department official.

The official said the women, who work for the Saudi embassy in Washington, claim to have been mistreated. It’s unclear who alerted authorities to the women’s situation.
