DWS Decries ‘Witch-Hunt’ Against Hillary

Democratics lawmakers took to MSNBC this afternoon to argue that the House Oversight Committee’s hearing on the Benghazi attack produced no new revelations. Appearing while the committee hearing was still in progress, representatives Matt Cartwright of Pennsylvania, Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida, and Dutch Ruppersberger of Maryland eschewed the testimony of the three whistleblowers who appeared at today’s hearing.

Wasserman Schultz called the hearing a “witchhunt” with Hillary Clinton as its target. Her colleague Cartwright said, “There was no news today,” He added, ”We’ve all heard the expression ‘making a mountain of out molehill.’ They don’t do that here today in Washington evidently: They make a mountain out of nothing at all.” Meanwhile, Ruppersberger told Mitchell, “Most of the information that I’ve heard so far is not new.”

Among the news revealed today, whistleblower Gregory Hicks has said he spoke with then-Secretary of State Clinton at 2 a.m. on the night of the attack, that her chief-of-staff was “very upset” that he cooperated with a Republican congressman investigating the issue, and that special forces were “furious” when they were told to stand down during the attack.
