Obama Calls Benghazi Investigation ‘Political Circus,’ ‘Sideshow’

During his press conference with British prime minister David Cameron today, President Barack Obama said controversy over the substantial editing of the Benghazi talking points was a “sideshow,” and decried the House investigation of the attacks and their aftermath as a “political circus.”

“We dishonor them when we turn things like this into a political circus,” Obama said, referring to civil servants risking their lives abroad, such as the four Americans who died in Benghazi. ”What happened was tragic, it was carried out by extremists inside Libya, we are out there trying to hunt them down so it doesn’t happen again.” He argued that the investigation was fruitless, saying “there’s no ‘there’ there.”
