Obama Lost 2.4 Million Youth Voters from 2008 to 2012
A study from Tufts University found that over 2 million voters between the ages of 18 and 29 did not vote for President Obama’s reelection after voting for him in 2008.
According to the study, President Obama lost the votes of 2.4 million young people, causing his share in that group to go from 66 percent to 60 percent. Meanwhile, Mitt Romney received 37 percent of the youth vote, compared with John McCain’s 32 percent support in 2008.
Turnout for the age group also fell by 6 percent from 2008 to 2012.
