Elizabeth Warren’s Student-Loan Pander

Just a few months into her first term as a senator from Massachusetts, Elizabeth “Fauxcahontas” Warren is sponsoring her first piece of legislation: the Bank on Students Loan Fairness Act, which seeks to extend to students the same interest rates supposedly offered to the country’s largest financial institutions. “Among the problems with the bill?” I ask in my piece today. “Said interest rates for said greedy banks do not exist. But that is a minor detail in Warren’s latest exercise in cheap populism.”

The bill is a duplicitous exercise in pandering, and I’ve got the numbers to prove it. But in case the facts are not enough to sway you, consider that MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell has endorsed the bill. That’s how you know it must be bad.
