Gay Marriage Loses In Illinois

After an impressive string of blue state victories beginning in November 2012, the Illinois House declined to vote on gay marriage, with the speaker saying he would bring a vote only if he had enough votes to pass.  At least 16 Democrats opposed the bill, and 2 Republicans reportedly favor gay marriage.  Strong opposition by Chicago-area black pastors made the difference.
