FORT HOOD — Maj. Nidal Hasan told a judge this morning he attacked Fort Hood soldiers on 2009 to defend the Taliban.

Hasan told the Fort Hood court Monday he intends to prove that his attack was to protect others. Today, he told the court specifically he intended to protect “the leadership of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, the Taliban — Mullah Omar is their leader.”
