House Intel Chair: Snowden ‘Betrayed His Country, and He Should Be Treated Just Like That’

House Intelligence Committee chairman Mike Rogers (R., Mich.) pushed back against claims that Edward Snowden, the NSA leaker, is either a whistleblower or a hero. “I think he has betrayed his country and he should be treated just like that,” Rogers said on CNN’s State of the Union this morning.

“A whistleblower comes to the appropriate authorities with the appropriate classifications, so that we can investigate any possible claim,” he explain. “He didn’t do that — he grabbed up information, he made preparations to go to China.”

Rogers also raised concerns about Snowden’s decision to go to China and talking with national media, which Peter King of New York also mentioned earlier this week.
