NSA Chief Says He Owes FBI Head ‘Another Friggin’ Beer’ for Supporting Surveillance Program
National Security Agency director Keith Alexander wants to thank the FBI’s Robert Mueller over a cold one. Alexander was caught on a hot mic telling FBI deputy director Sean Joyce that he appreciated the agency’s support after Tuesday’s House Intelligence Committee hearing on the NSA’s surveillance tactics.
“Tell your boss I owe him another friggin’ beer,” Alexander said to Joyce as they were packing up.
“Tell him to give it to me,” Joyce joked back.
The Daily Mail notes that Joyce repeatedly called the NSA’s surveillance program “essential” throughout the hearing. He cited four different cases in which the NSA’s data collection helped the FBI stop terrorist attacks. The Mail also provides a video of the exchange.
