Pelosi ‘Very Optimistic’ About Immigration Reform

by Andrew Stiles

House minority leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) is “very optimistic” that Congress will pass comprehensive immigration reform by the end of the year.

Now that the Senate has passed the Gang of Eight bill, House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio) “will have his way to bring legislation to the floor,” Pelosi said, “and hopefully it will be in a form that takes it to conference [with the Senate].”

Pelosi said Republicans will be moved by political realities – Democrats won more than two-thirds of the Hispanic vote in 2012 — and ultimately ”will do what is right for our country.”

“It’s certainly right for the Republicans if they ever want to win a presidential race,” she said.
