Spitzer Fights Back Tears on Morning Joe

by Andrew Johnson

Former New York governor Eliot Spitzer choked up during his Morning Joe interview today. Spitzer, who has been thrust back into the spotlight after announcing his candidacy for New York City’s comptroller position, held back tears when recounting how much he’s grown since his 2008 prostitution scandal.

“How are you different than you were five, six years ago? What has changed, personally, of who you are?” co-host Mika Brzezinski asked.

“A lot of pain . . . a lot of pain . . . you go through that pain, you change,” an emotional Spitzer replied.
